Transportation and use of single-use plastic/polythene is being discouraged during boat travel on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr
• In order to protect the environment, environment and biodiversity from the serious pollution caused by the plastic used as a result of the country's economic growth and rapid urbanization, the Bangladesh government banned the use, production and marketing of polythene shopping bags in 2002. In addition, in order to stop single-use plastic, the government has issued a notification designating 17 objects/materials/substances as single-use plastic.
• According to the issued notification, single-use plastic utensils/cutlery (such as: plastic spoons, forks, knives, plates, cups, glasses, etc.), single-use plastic mini packets/convenient containers of various products (such as: packets of chips, packets of biscuits, packets of chanachur, etc.), Styrofoam food wrappers/containers, thin plastic-coated fast food packets, etc. have been designated as single-use plastics.
• To prevent river pollution due to polythene and plastic, boat passengers are requested not to transport and use the aforementioned single-use plastic/polythene bags, packets or products, etc. on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.
• In addition, all traders/launch owners/launch authorities/launch staff are also requested to stop transporting single-use plastic/polythene bags, packets or products, etc. on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr and not to provide/supply these products to the passengers.
