Today, January 14, 2025, on the occasion of celebrating “Tarunyar Utsab-2025”, a meeting was held with the members of “Zero Waste Brigade” in Lalmonirhat district at the conference room of the Department of Environment, Lalmonirhat District Office to ban polythene and use alternative plastic products and stop the use of single-use plastic. The meeting was presided over by Bijan Kumar Roy, Assistant Director of the Department of Environment, Lalmonirhat District Office. The meeting was attended by Coordinator, Md. Enamul Haque Tipu, Bittaheen Samaj Unnayan Sangstha, Lalmonirhat; District Coordinator, Md. Rashedul Islam, Mohideb Jubo Samaj Kalyan Samity; President Nishikant Roy, Biodiversity Welfare Organization, Lalmonirhat; President, Md. Khairul Islam, Sabuj Sheba Foundation; President Md. Abdur Rahman, Green Voice, Aditmari and Green Voice members and students of other educational institutions.At this time, Assistant Director of the Department of Environment, Bijan Kumar Roy, emphasized the importance of conducting public awareness campaigns to stop the use of polythene/polypropylene, shopping bags and single-use plastic and reducing the use of single-use plastic products in daily life. Besides, he gave guidelines on the scope of work of the members of the “Zero Waste Brigade” during the celebration of “Tarunyar Utsab-2025”.
