Today, on 12/03/2025, in accordance with the directives of the Honorable High Court, a mobile court operation was conducted jointly by the Upazila Administration of Kaliganj and the Department of Environment, Lalmonirhat District Office, against 2 illegal brick kilns located in Kaliganj Upazila. During this operation, the fires of the two illegal brick kilns, namely Messrs MJA-2 Bricks and Messrs BBMC Bricks, were extinguished with water, raw bricks were destroyed, the walls of the brick kilns were demolished using excavators, and the chimneys were rendered unusable by breaking them, thereby halting all operations of the brick kilns. Judicial duties in the mobile court were carried out by the Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate, Mr. Sifat Anwar Tumpa, while prosecution was conducted by Mr. Golam Asif Rahman, Inspector of the Department of Environment, Lalmonirhat District Office. Also present during the operation were Mr. A.K.M. Fazlul Haque, Additional Police Superintendent (A-Circle), Lalmonirhat, and Mr. Bijan Kumar Roy, Assistant Director of the Department of Environment, Lalmonirhat District Office. Additionally, members of the Bangladesh Army from Lalmonirhat Camp, Kaliganj Upazila Police, Fire Service, and Kaliganj provided full cooperation during the operation. From this office, such operations against illegal brick kilns will continue to ensure environmental protection and control air pollution.
